P&C Bulletin – 1 April 2014
What a fantastic day! We were entertained on vocals by Felix (KM) and Timothy (4/5D) accompanying their
parents, Danielle and Richard ; the kids frolicked on a jumping castle; had their faces painted; and played
tug-o-war and many other games courtesy of Christian from Garden Games. There were many tasty snacks
and a fabulous array of goods to purchase from 92 stallholders. And the weather was kind to us too, which
is always a bonus. All in all a great success, with $4,400 raised after costs for the School. All of this will go
towards Stage 2 of the playground renovation.
There are many, many people to thank and we hope
we have not left anyone out – it was a hectic day: Bex
(Isobella, KM), Cathy (Miah, 4/5D), Delia (Mahli, KM),
Fiona (Finn, 2A), Jade and Ray (Ava, 2/3P), Jane (Alex,
KB), Jinan (Mia, KM), Kayo (Lehon, 5/6D and Norah
3/4N), Kelly (Gabby, 3/4N and Charlotte, 1P), Kirsty

Benji, KB), Lotta (Zoe 3/4N), Lynette (Tenzin, 3/4N &
and Finnian, 1P), Mia (Axl, 1H) Michelle (Sante, 5/6D
& Sapphire, 2/3P) Nick and Jacquie (Charlotte, 5/6D
and Eliza, 3/4N), Pandora (Naomi, 3/4N), Peter
(Tallulah, 4/5D & Matilda, 2A), Peter and Robyn
(Cameron, 3/4N), Rachel & Mark (Jack, 2A & Charlie, KM), Rachel (Bruno, 1P), Sarah (Gracie, KB), Sarah
(Hester, 3/4N), Sarah (Kaitlyn, 1H), Silke (Noah, 5/6D & Jasper, 1H), Tomomi (Airi, 5/6D and Yuuta, 2/3P),
Valerie (Maddison, 4/5D and Will, 2A) and Vince (Zac, 5/6D and Philippa, 4/5D).
It was great to see so many new parents helping out. All these volunteers did a range of things including
getting stall holders set up, picking up bread and ice, cooking up a storm on the BBQ and serving snags,
biscuits and cakes, looking after kids on the jumping castle and generally clearing up. Thanks too to those
parents/carers who contributed baked treats to sell. The BBQ made $1,680 profit and the cake stall made
$410. The jumping castle made a profit of $320. As usual, markets coordinators, Antonella (Zac, 5/6D and
Philippa, 4/5D) and Julian (Axel, 4/5D and Freya, KB) kept many balls in the air leading up to the markets
and on the day.
The next markets date is not yet fixed but likely to be in June or July. Keep an eye on the markets page of
the P&C’s website and on the Facebook page.
Canteen special for tomorrow
The weekly special is Hokkien noodles
with chicken, carrot, beans and onion, in a delicious oyster sauce.
There are two sizes to choose from
- small ($3.50)
- large ($4.50).
Last P&C meeting – discussion items
The last meeting was on 17 March. The President’s report for 2013-14 is on the P&C website and has been
reproduced in Whispers. Some items discussed were:
the new playground – all were happy with progress; the second stage can commence and funding is secured
available funds – there are sufficient funds to be able to contribute significantly towards a number of School
initiatives this year and next
the multi-cultural wall at the back of the police station - the P&C will likely fund the cost of paint and a
design proposal is forthcoming
Mr Nogher will be co-ordinating funding requests to be made by the School of the P&C. These will be
submitted in time for discussion at the next meeting (on 19 May) regarding possible expenditure on
computers, library upgrade, for example
The same DJ as last year has been booked for the Halloween disco, which is locked in for Saturday, 1
November in the School hall.
These can be purchased from the onsite uniform shop, being navy long pants and zip up jackets and long sleeve
yellow polo shirts. The girls’ navy tunic can be purchased at Wylie’s School Wear. For parents/carers new to the
School, the uniform is set out on the P&C website.
What do you want to hear about? Traditionally, the Bulletin has come out each
Tuesday and the Comms coordinators will be considering whether that is
necessary or whether to move to a monthly format. However, we want to hear
from you first. The P&C website will be regularly updated. The Bulletin provides a
great way to share information about our School, delivered conveniently into
your inbox. However, you may prefer to check out the website from time to time
If you think there are areas that should be covered, please let us know and let us
know how frequently you would like to receive it.
You can contact the Comms coordinators via
Next P&C meeting
Due to holidays in April, the next meeting is Monday, 19 May at 6pm in the teachers’ staffroom on the first floor.
All are welcome. It costs a mere gold coin per family to join the P&C for the year and the ways to contribute to the
School are endless.
